If we could travel back in time to the 1990s, we’d discover an 8,000-square-foot vacant lot with a bridge on-ramp on one side at 301 Bryant. Not a particularly desirable place to build a new condominium project. In the 1990s even the San Francisco Redevelopment Agency deemed the site at 301 Bryant to be of limited value!
Undeterred by the challenging size and topography of the parcel, Tanner Leddy Maytum Stacy Architects (now two firms: TannerHecht Architects and Leddy Maytum Stacy Architects) designed an 11-story, 39-unit building with two lobbies on two streets, separated by four levels. They also included a new public staircase connecting Delancey Street (at the bottom) with Bryant Street at the top.
Many of the homes at 301 Bryant provide views of the Bay Bridge and San Francisco Bay. Ranging in size from one to two bedrooms, the 39 condos in the building were finished with maple floors and a choice of carpets when constructed in 1998. Each home comes with independent parking for one car in a shared garage. Some homes have decks and floor-to-ceiling windows.
Residents of 301 Bryant can enjoy proximity to AT&T Park, home of the San Francisco Giants, as well as the Embarcadero, South Beach, and the Bay Bridge. Dog lovers in the building are a short walk away from the Rincon Hill Dog Park, at the corner of Beale and Bryant, which opened in early 2012.
